 Exciting News!

We are thrilled to welcome Steven McDonnell to our Coaching team at Sunderland Golf Centre.

An elite sports professional as a junior having played county cricket and semi-pro football, Steven’s passion was always golf and he turned professional in 2015 with a handicap of +1. Steven lived most of his life in Cambridgeshire and the Midlands but his roots were always in the North East and he moved back in 2013.

Steven’s aim after turning professional in 2015 was to develop golf for the North East of England. He started his golf career at Close House PGA Academy as an Assistant Professional and after 2 years of being a professional he is well on his way to making his mark in the golf game, delivering the biggest tri-golf project in North East schools which is ongoing, helping set up and coach in 3 junior academies whilst being in regular contact with England Golf and Golf Roots.

A serious back problem in 2016 hindered his playing career but now with a full recovery Steven hopes to play and deliver

golf to a very high standard for Sunderland Golf Centre, having played in Open qualifying in 2017 and many North East/North West PGA events.

Thank you!

To the 119 members who participated in the recent Masters competition.

Here are the 10 lucky winners of the free prize draw:

There are 10 golf prizes of golf balls/gloves/caps.

Please join us in extending best wishes to Andrew Mair - Master Professional of the European Golf Teachers Federation,

We would like to thank Andrew for all his hard work throughout the years he’ll be greatly missed by colleagues & customers alike.

A personal message from Andrew Mair:

Coaching Announcement

Dear Member

After over 48years in the golf industry I have decided to start taking life a bit easier, and so I will be leaving Sunderland Golf Centre on 19th September 2017.

I have enjoyed my six years at the driving range, meeting many people using the range some becoming good friends.

I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank Chris Pope and his team, for all their help over the last six years. Chris took on an ailing business and has

worked tirelessly to improve the golf driving range and I’m sure he will continue to do so for many years to come.

I will continue to visit the range from time to time, hopefully I will see some of you if you are around.

Best Wishes

Andrew Mair
